Verbier Ski Areas
The renowned off piste in Verbier, which caters to many extreme contests such as the Freeride World Tour, is a draw for many who seek a skiing thrill. With the infamous mogul field of the Chassour-Toutin and the tantalizing descents of Mont Gelé, many a seasoned skier finds the attraction of Verbier irresistible. But the wonderful thing is that this is not all that Verbier has to offer. With beautiful sweeping boulevards of the Attelas and the relaxed, sunny area of La Chaux, Verbier is an area that not only the advanced skier can enjoy. Intermediate and beginner skiers are very welcome and extremely well looked after.
From central Verbier, the Médran gondola is the popular and easiest choice to access the slopes, taking you up to a network of red runs and a couple of high up scenic blues. The aforementioned La Chaux is very popular with families due to its sunny exposure and wide runs.
If you decide to pull away from the obvious choice, a short bus ride across the town will take to you the Savoleyres area north of Verbier. The extensive blues and reds that are split between the sunny face and the woodland behind offers up some exceptional skiing that carries you to the smaller resort of La Tzoumaz.
Being part of the 4 Valleys ski area means that there is no room for boredom in Verbier. You can access Nendaz, Veyrsonex and Thyon via the Verbier lift system and have the option of skiing down some steep and challenging runs or sticking to the gondolas to reach your destination. With so many choices on your doorstep, Verbier is the leading example of a mountain town that really does have it all.
